Secret, Silent Screams, Joan Lowery Nixon
Marci is obsessed with proving that her best friend (Barry)
did not commit suicide, but was murdered. She begins with the police
and a sympathetic female officer (Karen) who agrees to quietly look
into the death on her own time, because the case is closed. The teachers,
her parents, and her friends think she is emotionally unbalanced,
because of grief for Barry. No one believes her. The plot has a few
twists and turns and even though you can tell who did it (I did) I
wasn't sure why until very close to the end. There is enough suspense
to keep your attention to the end.
