The Coastwatcher
by Elise Weston

This story was about a boy named Hugh, his sister named Sally, and their cousin named Tom who lived in America during WWII. Everyday Hugh lays on the beach looking through his binoculars for German subs. Soon He starts seeing a periscope, flashing lights in the middle of the night, a pack of German cigerrets, and a strange map. When he puts the clues together he finds a group of undercover Germans. He alerts a man named Abram and together they hold the Germans prisinor until police arrive. Shortly after Hugh, Tom, Sally, and Abram find out the Germans were planning to plant dynamite at a navy base and free some German Prisinors of war. I liked this story because it was about a boy who through his "coast watching" as he called it prevented a very caotic event from happening.
