January 16th, 2003 Minutes

Foundation Minutes- Board Meeting

Call to order- 3:30PM

Roll call- Lorna Frahm, Bill Zollmann, Tim DeGhelder, Mark Rudolph, Jim Ottomeyer, Bob Houck, Carl Sandstedt.

Motion by Bill Zollmann to accept minutes from November 21st, 2002  meeting.

Public comments- none

Financial Report given by Bob Houck  

Bob circulated balance sheet.  Bob Houck supplied all information related to investments summary dated 01/16//2003.   Bob also gave information on all Foundation investments.  Noted we are keeping within our investment policy.

Comments from the Foundation Board- 

None

Staff Liaison's report- Bob thanked Bill and Laurie for working on the coffee advisory board.

Director's report- Carl Sandstedt

• Old Administration building to be leased to non-profits- lead agency (Community Council) The board is being set to work on everyday operations.

• Winghaven (WH)  coming along fine- possible opening June 2003

• Circulation going up in district

Householder Scholarships-

Applications to be accepted at the May meeting in 2003.

Building is secured Civic Hall in O'fallon

Reminder of Table Sponsor costs.

$35 to sponsor round

$25 to sponsor table

$50 for both.

New  Business-

Discussion- Capital Campaign for Expansion of the Physical Plant.

Potential sponsorships of areas at Winghaven Library Express.  

Motion by Mark Rudolph to allow Bob Houck to review and work on physical properties of Winghaven that could be sponsored by a donation to the foundation.  (Example- outdoor seating area sponsored by MasterCard)

New  Business-

Nonprofit Development Center- Possible start up funding.

After discussion it was determined not to fund this project.

Motion by Bill Zollmann to table indefinitely the funding for the Nonprofit Development Center.

Motion Passed.

Motion made by Tim De Ghelder to adjourn at 4:35pm
