ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT
St. Charles County is very much a county in transition. We want the county to be both a pleasant place to live and to have enough of a business, commercial and industrial base to make the county economically self-sufficient. What does the county need to do to provide incentives for businesses to locate here as opposed to another area or even another state? How can we preserve our tax-base for funding schools, essential public services, and infrastructure, yet convince major employers to build new facilities and create jobs for our citizens? How can counties and municipalities cooperate toward a regional perspective that improves the entire metropolitan area and increases the quality of life throughout eastern Missouri?
As part of the Planning for Results process, the St. Charles City-County Library District will present a public forum on economic development issues in the county and the region. We will have presenters representing the county perspective, the state of Missouri, and the local business community.
