Education
Few endeavors are as critical to the future of
St. Charles County as education. Fewer still are pivotally affected by changing
population, rapid growth, property values, and societal needs. What will St.
Charles Countys educational institutions face in the coming years? How
can we prepare to meet the requirements of many people with varying educational
needs? What needs to be done to meet the future head-on?

Ronald M. Berrey, Ed.D
Superintendent
Wentzville School District
Dr. Berrey has served as the Superintendent of the Wentzville School District
since 1991. Prior to accepting his position as Superintendent, Dr. Berrey served
as an Associate Superintendent for the Wentzville School District and was a
teacher and principal in the Hazelwood School District. He is also a Vietnam
Veteran. Dr. Berrey currently serves as the Chairman of the Doctors Hospital
Board of Directors and has been active in the University of MO Partnership for
Educational Renewal, Lake St. Louis Ambassadors, Wentzville Rotary Club, St.
Louis Suburban Elementary Principals Assocation and various other community
and education related associations and steering committees. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast MO State University, his Master of
Science from Central MO State University and his Ed D from the University of
MO, Columbia.
John M. McGuire, Ph.D
President
St. Charles County Community College
Dr. John M. McGuire has been president of St Charles Community College since
November, 1996. He previously served as president of Owensboro Community College
in Kentucky. Dr. McGuire began his career in education in 1972 and has served
as a community college teacher, assistant dean of instruction, director of off
campus centers, and chief academic and student development officer. He is a
member of the Presidents Council of Missouri Community College Association
and serves on the Budgeting Committee and Transfer and Articulation Committee.
He is a member of the YMCA Board of Directors, St. Peters Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors, St. Peters Rotary, and the Advisory Board for the Synergy
Center of the St. Charles County Economic Development Council. Dr. McGuire holds
Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from West Viriginia University and
a PhD in higher education from Florida State University.
