A permanent full time employee is an individual employed for an indefinite period and working a full time schedule, i.e., budgeted 2088 hours of work per year. A permanent part time employee is an individual employed for an indefinite period and budgeted at less than 28 hours per week, but not more than 1499 hours per year. A temporary employee, either full time or part time, is an individual employed for a defined period, that is, the employment period has a definite staring and ending date. Temporary employees working in the Float Pool will work as needed by the District. Time worked as a temporary employee will not count as service when computing length of service for sick, annual or salary increases. Temporary employees do not receive benefits or regular salary increases and will be paid at the first step on the pay track for the temporary position. Effective July 1, 2001, temporary Float Pool employees who are not working on Sunday and who have worked a minimum of 100 hours during the past 12 months will receive a one step increase on July 1st. The Temporary employee must have been employed at least by January 1st to be eligible for the step increase on July 1st. On July 1st of each consecutive year that they continue to work a minimum of 100 hours, they will receive a step increase. It a temporary Float Pool employee is hired as a permanent full time or part time employee, they will be paid at the first step of the pay track for the new position. If the employee has worked 3 or more years in the Float Pool, their experience and training will be recognized with an additional step. Upon appointment to a permanent postion, the temporary Float Pool employee, with 3 or more consecutive years at a mimimum of 100 Float Pool hours per year, will be paid at the 2nd step of the pay track for the new position with the understanding that they will continue to work in the Float Pool at least one more year. If the employee elects not to continue Float Pool work, they will be paid at the first step of the pay track for the new position. Sunday employees who also work and additional temporary position will be paid for the temporary work at the same track and step as they are paid for their Sunday assignment. The employees working schedule and benefits will be determined in accordance with the job classification and the existing District policies. (Revised 8/8/05) |
