CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION - HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR

 

Salary Track: I-J

FLSA Status:  Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES COMMON TO THE POSITION:

System-wide management responsibilities for Human Resources area. Responsibilities may include, but shall not be limited to; policy development, employee development, budget development, benefit administration, recruitment and administrative record keeping.

TYPICAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

Policy Development: Research and compose policies which comply with federal and state employment laws. Formal presentation of policies to Board of Trustees and management staff. Develop and update internal employment materials such as, handbook, benefit summary, application.
Employee Development: Assist management in areas of recruitment, orientation, performance appraisals salary administration, and disciplinary procedures.
Budget Development: Prepare annual budget for Human Resources area: review staffing requests, calculate salaries, taxes, and benefit costs. Audit budget expenditures.
Benefit Administration: Manage benefit programs. Evaluate insurance bids, audit monthly statements, approve expenditures. Inform employees about the plans and assist with unusual problems.
Administrative Responsibilities: Supervise Volunteer Resources Specialist and Secretary.   Manage department records. Coordinate annual district events.

DIRECTION RECEIVED:

Reports to Director, supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of the function and purpose of a public library.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experienced PC user. Knowledge of work processing, database management, and spreadsheet software.
Baccalaureate Degree in related field.
Three (3) years Human Resources experience.
Masters Degree in related field preferred.
Under exceptional circumstances, related experience commensurate with the duties and tasks
necessary to successfully perform the job may be substituted.

TRANSER AND PROMOTION:

Incumbent may be promoted by approval of a professional development sequence according to Policy #E032.1. Position reclassification is subject to Board approval.
