
Branch Profiles
Regional Branches consist of 175,000 – 225,000 volumes and contain specialized, in-depth collections.
- The Kathryn Linnemann Branch specializes in local history and genealogical support materials.
- The Spencer Road Branch specializes in materials and services designed to assist both nonprofit corporations, and business and public management enterprises.
- The Middendorf-Kredell Branch has the Federal Documents Depository and Geographic Information System (GIS). Documents may be placed at multiple locations within the District to best serve customers with specialized needs.
General Purpose Branches consist of 75,000 – 100,000 volumes including general interest areas and reference materials.

Mini-Branches consist of 8,000 – 12,000 volumes of general interest. These branches service the smaller communities of Augusta, Portage des Sioux, New Melle and surrounding areas.
Library Express consists of 15,000 – 20,000 volumes augmenting regional and general purpose branches, with collections emphasizing popular materials and offering no reference services or in-depth children’s services.
Extension Services specializes in providing service to county residents who are isolated because of geographical, physical, or circumstantial reasons.
